Adobe Photoshop has a couple of ways to deselect either everything or a specific object:

Deselect everything

You can deselect everything at once with one simple step.

Go to Select > Deselect.

Deselect all
Go to Select > Deselect.

Deselect specific sections of objects

If you wish only to deselect a specific area of your selection, you can use the Magic Wand Tool. 

  1. Click on the Magic Wand Tool in the left toolbar.

  2. On top, click on Subtract from selection.

  3. Then click on the area of the photo you wish to deselect.
